Advancing Agarwood Science in Bangladesh

The Agarwood Research Laboratory (AWRL) operates under the Bangladesh Forest Research Institute (BFRI), Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. We are dedicated to developing and disseminating improved inoculation and cultivation techniques for Aquilaria species.

Our work supports sustainable forest management, enhances farmer livelihoods, and preserves one of nature's most precious aromatic resources.

  • Government-mandated development project
  • Directed by the Hon'ble Prime Minister
  • Collaboration with international experts

Improved Agarwood Inoculation Technique Project

This Prime Minister-directed project aims to develop a complete, commercially viable inoculation technology that enables resin accumulation throughout the entire tree — dramatically increasing yield and quality while reducing harvesting pressure on natural forests.

Phase 1 — Baseline survey & species assessment
Phase 2 — Inoculant formulation & field trials
Phase 3 — Technology transfer & farmer training
